Online exchange with MLU (8/23)
Students from the woodworking program in the Creative Manufacturing Design department held an online exchange with graduates from one of our partner schools, the Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies program at Linköping University (Sweden). This exchange provided the participants with the opportunity to share examples of their work, and to consider how their different cultural backgrounds have influenced their ways of thinking about their craft. |

Glass blowing workshop (10/30)
Students from AUA and Akita International University (AIU) learned the basics of glass blowing, planning and producing their own glass works with the help of instructors and students from the Creative Manufacturing Design department. |

Online workshop with Shiv Nadar University (11/1-12/6)
Students from AUA and Akita International University in Japan joined students from Shiv Nadar University (SNU) in India for an online workshop centered around the theme of “Repair.” Participants heard lectures from guest speakers and also presented their own research on the topic. |

“Sumiyaki Workshop” (11/27)
Students from AUA and Akita International University traveled to Motai and Hiyama districts in Noshiro City, in the northern part of Akita Prefecture. There they learned about a traditional low-carbon method of making coal called “sumiyaki,” and also toured a local natto (fermented soybean) factory. |
