プロフィール

Fuyuki Yamakawa expands sound and light capacity in performances using a bone conduction microphone, electronic stethoscope, and other technology in combination with bodily movements and sounds, including heartbeats, voice, and thumps on his skull with a fingertip or palm. Having learned traditional Khoomei throat singing locally in the Tuva Republic in central Asia, he gives play to this distinctive singing in his own performances.
Yamakawa also creates artworks based on his research into the history and natural and social environments of particular regions, working across boundaries between music, contemporary art, and the performing arts.
